Arif Hasan is a Minnesota Vikings blogger, NFL analyst, and co-host of Norse Code. He is widely regarded as one of the most analytically rigorous Vikings writers in independent media.

Background

[edit]

Hasan left a career in direct advocacy and political lobbying to write about football, and went from covering occasional practices at training camp to covering the Super Bowl — without a college journalism degree or formal background in sportswriting.

He attended the University of Minnesota, where he was on the debate team. It was there that a fantasy football league requirement first sparked his interest in the sport.

Writing & Analysis

[edit]

Hasan has been writing about the NFL for more than a decade, specializing in deep-dive analysis using film and analytics. His work has appeared in the Star Tribune, the LA Times, the International Business Times, Forbes, MSNBC, and Bleacher Report. He previously covered the Minnesota Vikings for The Athletic and Zone Coverage before joining Pro Football Network.

He currently publishes the Wide Left newsletter on Substack, which is split into three content verticals: Lead Dive for NFL analysis, Two Gap for college and draft coverage, and Outside Zone for cultural and political commentary.

On Norse Code

[edit]

Arif is the analytical heart of the show, bringing film study, statistics, and league-wide context to every Vikings discussion. He is known on the pod for his mailbag responses, sumo coverage, consensus big board work, and occasionally strong opinions about food.
