== Buccaneers Preview with Jon Ledyard == === Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers Offense === Ledyard rejected the narrative that Baker's struggles stem from complacency after securing his contract. His argument: Baker has always been this quarterback β volatile, chaos-addicted, arm-talented but structurally resistant to clean pocket operation. Arif noted that Baker's tendency to throw off-platform is systematically misread as arm weakness when it is actually evidence of arm strength; the problem is that he seeks out those throws rather than avoiding the conditions that produce them. The deeper diagnostic, per Ledyard: Baker wants to be a running back. The moment pressure arrives, his instinct is to abandon structure entirely and improvise. This has produced highlights throughout his career, but it also means the floor is unpredictably low. The Buccaneers have run 11 personnel on over 84% of snaps through two games, despite posting a respectable rush success rate (seventh in the league) and a poor pass success rate. The playcalling logic has not yet made itself apparent to outside observers, including Ledyard. === Buccaneers Wide Receivers === MikΓ‘ Buka's route-running impressed Ledyard on tape; he is getting open and Baker is not finding him. Jalen McMillan emerged as a genuine playmaker in the second half of the prior season after returning from a neck injury, but played only seven snaps in Week 2 despite being declared healthy β apparently due to game flow. The expectation is he returns to a full workload. Ted Hurst led the team in targets and dropped two of Baker's best throws of the season. Chris Godwin remains a reliable possession receiver. Without a true alpha, the room is capable but entirely contingent on functional quarterback play. === Buccaneers Offensive Line === The line has had more positive individual moments than its reputation suggests, but has badly struggled with stunt pickups β failing to pass off looping defenders when set wide. Graham Barton is developing at center but has not yet acquired the pre-snap identification that elite centers use to anticipate stunts before they develop. Ledyard referenced the Jason Kelsey video featuring Tom Cruise β who "hangs on his every word" β as a model for the kind of pre-snap reads Barton still needs to develop. Against Brian Flores's two-man games layered on top of standard four-man rushes, the Buccaneers' pickup failures are likely to be exposed further. === Dallas Turner and the Vikings Pass Rush === Ledyard assessed Turner as well-drafted, with athleticism that slots cleanly into the angles Flores creates. The Vikings are the least-blitzed team in the league through two weeks (having faced Cleveland and Cincinnati), so Flores's scheme will represent a significant difficulty jump. The Vikings' distinctive structural feature β blitzing heavily while keeping split-safety two-high coverage behind it, capping deep balls even against quarterbacks who throw deep often β matches badly with Baker's tendency to take shots downfield under pressure. === Buccaneers Tight Ends === Golden Gopher Coque Kief has played one offensive snap on the season. Cade Otten is the primary passing target at the position and has made at least one remarkable contested catch; Payne Durham is a quality blocker. Ledyard believes the room is more capable than it appears, but the offensive coordinator has not deployed them with any discernible logic. The absence of any 12 or 13 personnel usage β in a league trending heavily toward heavier groupings β is one of several decisions that has not yet resolved into a coherent identity for Zach Robinson's offence. === Edge Rushers and Reuben Bain === Reuben Bain β a player whose name carries ongoing significance for the show β had traits Ledyard questioned at the draft level, particularly pass-rush athleticism and arm length. Early evidence suggests he can develop, though the Buccaneers' institutional resistance to developing pass rushers has complicated his trajectory. A comparison to Tyree Wilson β whose college tape was produced on a broken foot, and who was still being blocked by tight ends β established the baseline for what failed translation looks like. Ledyard is not writing Bain off. === Alex Anzalone and Linebackers === Ledyard's verdict on Alex Anzalone: potentially the worst defensive player in the league. He ranks 510th or lower out of 513 qualifying defenders by PFF grade through two weeks. Ledyard acknowledged PFF is unreliable on interior defensive linemen but expressed confidence in this specific assessment. Arif briefly pivoted to Sonny Styles (Washington linebacker), whose preseason coverage implied struggles; Ledyard suggested he is simply playing fast and needs to slow the game down β a developmental arc rather than a talent ceiling. === Buccaneers Secondary and Antoine Winfield Jr. === Antoine Winfield Jr. was responsible for the game-winning touchdown in a Buccaneers loss β allowing a late score after 57 preceding plays had done the heavier work of determining the outcome. Arif asked if Ledyard missed Jamel Dean, Carlton Davis, and Sean Murphy Bunting as football players. Ledyard confirmed he misses Charmere Vundig β who, separately, had previously sent Ledyard unfriendly messages after a critical take, and has since returned to an NFL practice squad. === Game Matchup and Prediction === The Vikings are favoured by 1.5 points. Kyler Murray has had five snaps as a Viking, the most memorable of which was an interception Ledyard described as "something, man" β a strong candidate for end-of-season top-10 wildest plays regardless of what follows. Aaron Jones is potentially playing through injury. Ledyard declined to pick the Buccaneers, describing them as a talented team executing like a bad one β undisciplined, poorly coached, prone to self-destruction. With the Packers and Cowboys to follow a potential 0β3, he characterised their situation as genuine desperation.
