Dusty O'Connell is the co-founder of Norse Code and served as
Arif Hasan's original co-host from the podcast's launch in 2013 until 2018.

Role on Norse Code
Dusty co-founded Norse Code and hosted it from 2013 until 2018.
In the show's early years he was Arif's primary on-air partner, providing the
everyman fan perspective alongside Arif's analytical approach. James Pogatshnik
initially filled in as interim host when Dusty was unavailable — a
arrangement that eventually became permanent when James took over as full-time
co-host after Dusty's departure.

Despite stepping back from regular duties, Dusty has remained a beloved presence
in the Norse Code universe, returning as a guest for milestone episodes and
special occasions. He appeared for the Episode 400 celebration, and
continues to join Arif and James for the annual Super Bowl prop bet episode —
one of the most anticipated recurring segments of the show's calendar.

Background
From 2010 until 2014, Dusty volunteered at KGNU Public Radio in Boulder,
Colorado as a reporter, producer, and board operator. He is based in Aurora,
Colorado.

A Seocnd Jet Has Hit DrewBledsoe [sic] is one of the most prolific and intellectually ambitious recurring contributors in Norse Code mailbag history. Appearing across at least 30 documented episodes between Episode 461 and Episode 603, the listener known by this name submitted questions spanning NFL analysis, Warhammer 40,000, Sailor Moon, Romani corners, anime live action adaptations, Cooper DeJean's racial significance to American democracy, the pharmacological load of Carson Wentz's shoulder, and the moon's allegiance to the Green Bay Packers. His name comes from a Patreon episode, where Arif made an observation that Drew Bledsoe was taken out, ushering the Tom Brady era, by a Jets defensive player a week after 9/11.

Recurring Themes & Notable Questions
NFL Analysis (Legitimate)
Despite the name, a significant portion of the submissions are genuine football
questions, often framed through absurdist named corners:

* Episode 461: "For the universe where the packers make the playoffs, what alternative information could we give Rodgers that would convince him that if he plays in San Fran the deep state will assassinate him?"
* Episode 489: "For the everything is happening corner: this win in a vacuum is wildly improbable. Players cannot breathe in a vacuum, and the 49ers are a better team than the Vikings. But putting it into the context of the Vikings at large, this shouldn't be a surprise right?"
* Episode 502: "For Arif's 'Flores beating Goff' corner. Goff historically can't handle the demands of playing Quarterback when the blitz is getting to him. What did the Lions do to mitigate the affects of the blitz on Goff?"
* Episode 537: "For the Beating Goff corner: Is Sam Darnold just a worse version of Goff, or is Goff just a better Sam Darnold?"
* Episode 551: "Why can't Flores beat Goff?"
* Episode 566: "For Arif's Actual Football Question Corner: what non starter will make the most impact for the Vikings by the end of the season?"
* Episode 581: "For the Drew Bledsoe Lions Week Corner: What great college stories will McCarthy and Hutchinson re-live as McCarthy is having his body violently crashing into the ground at Mach 8 by the Lions defensive line? Could McCarthy distract Hutchinson by showing him his Notre Dame championship ring?"
* Episode 594: "Since 2022, Dan Campbell is 12-0 in regular season games where he has lost the game prior. This season, the Lions have not won consecutive games since week 4 & 5. Is this Lions team set up to win the Super Bowl via Loss-Win-Loss-Win?"

The Jameson Williams Gambling Corner
A Second Jet maintained a dedicated named corner for gambling content, attributed to suspended wide receiver Jameson Williams:

* Episode 478: "For the Jameson Williams gambling corner: what bets should I make for week one, and where is the most and least appropriate place to place these bets?"
* Episode 544: "For the Jameson Williams Honorary Gambling Corner: How should we thank Charles for telling us to hammer the over for the Vikings?"

Cooper DeJean and the Fate of American Democracy
A Second Jet developed a sustained interest in Cooper DeJean — white cornerback and Super Bowl champion — as a figure of broader social significance:

* Episode 542: "For Arif's Social Justice Corner: Known White Boy CornerBack Cooper DeJean tackled Derrick Henry One on One in space. How big is this moment for young white boys who want to play CornerBack?"
* Episode 557: "For Arif's DEIA corner: Can the Eagles use known melanin lacker and Super Bowl champion Cooper DeJean as the poster boy for why diversity equity inclusion, and accessibility are truly worth keeping to the current administration? Can this white boy save America?"

The arc from Episode 542 (Cooper DeJean tackles Derrick Henry) to Episode 557 (Cooper DeJean saves American democracy) represents a narrative escalation that few mailbag contributors have achieved.

Warhammer 40,000 (Episode 567)
The single most operatically written question in the documented Norse Code mailbag:

Anime & Pop Culture
* Episode 533: "For the Pretty Sailor Guardians Corner: was Arif able to find a skirt that both fit his 7'3 frame, but also showed off the correct amount of thigh for his Sailor Guardian costume?"
* Episode 597: "For Arif's Anime Corner: How does the halftime performance of songs from K-Pop Demon Hunter stand up to other live action adaptations of anime, specifically, is it better than Dragon Ball Evolution?"

Relationships
A Second Jet periodically submitted to James' relationship corner with questions of genuine romantic complexity:

* Episode 520: "For James's relationship corner, I've recently started dating a person, and they asked me to 'mansplain football' to them. They know nothing about football — where should I start and at what point can I introduce the Vikings to them? I want them to enjoy football, but I don't want to scare them off."
* Episode 578: "For James's relationship corner: I recently had a friend from my University's Board Game Club over at my apartment to watch some TV. Almost immediately, we were both cuddling and flirting with each other. It ended up feeling like a lovely date unexpectedly. Follow-up question..."

The Board Game Club development was not followed up in the available show notes. The relationship's status is unknown.

The Dusty Investigation (Episode 600)
A Second Jet submitted the definitive methodological inquiry into The Death of Dusty O'Connell:

"For Arif & James' Spiritual Corner: What was the method for getting known dead human Dusty on the podcast? A reanimated corpse, ouija board, binding his soul to a suit of armor, or Etsy Witches? Furthermore, does James allow Dusty to leave the basement to record, or does he have a dedicated podcasting coffin down there?" - A Second Jet Has Hit Drew Bledsoe|Episode 600}}

"A dedicated podcasting coffin" is among the finest phrases in Norse Code history.

The Harvest Moon (Bonus Episode)
The moon question stands as a self-contained masterpiece. It requires no context. It is its own corner.

Carson Wentz's Pharmacological Load (Episode 599.5)
This was submitted during what appears to have been an episode in which James was recovering from some unspecified medical procedure. The comparison point chosen was Carson Wentz's 2017 ACL surgery. The corner name given was "James's Medical Health Corner."

The Romani Corner (Episode 603)
The final documented A Second Jet submission, in the show's 603rd episode:

"Romani Angulus" is Latin for "Roman Corner." "Pontius KOC" refers to Kevin O'Connell. Carson Wentz is Jesus.

The Named Corners: A Complete Record
A Second Jet generated more named corners per episode than any other documented contributor. A partial list:

Legacy
A Second Jet Has Hit Drew Bledsoe appeared in the mailbag from Episode 461 through Episode 603. Their latest question, submitted in Latin, framed Kevin O'Connell as Pontius Pilate and Carson Wentz as the risen Christ. Their first question asked what misinformation could be used to prevent Aaron Rodgers from playing in San Francisco.

Between those two points: the moon, the Packers, Warhammer 40,000, Cooper DeJean saving American democracy, Dusty's podcasting coffin, the Board Game Club date, James's painkiller load relative to Carson Wentz's exploded shoulder, and the question of whether Flores can beat Goff.

They are a Friend of the Show. They are, by any measure, one of the greats.
Norse Code has developed a rich collection of running jokes, recurring bits, and
beloved lore over its 600+ episodes. These moments are as much a part of the show's
identity as the Vikings analysis itself. Notable recurring elements include Arif's
sumo coverage (a genuine passion that has earned its own segment), the annual
Christmas clip show, the mailbag, and a cast of recurring guests who have become
"friends of the show." The show is also known for its deeply committed bit economy
— once a joke enters the Norse Code universe, it tends to stay forever.
🔥 The Hell League
The Hell League is a fantasy football league created and run by James Pogatshnik,
open to Norse Code listeners via an annual lottery.

Established in 2021 as a platform to experiment with innovations in fantasy
cruelty, it requires managers to start two active kickers every week under a
uniquely punishing scoring system. The defining feature is a brutal sliding
scale for kicker scoring — missed extra points carry a deduction of -50 points,
a penalty James increased from -25 midseason in year one because it wasn't
penalizing players enough.

By the time of Episode 500, the show had run eight Hell Leagues.
Each August, James announces on air that the lottery for new spots is open.

🎙️ Bits & Lore
Norse Code has developed a rich collection of running jokes, recurring bits, and
beloved lore over its 600+ episodes. These moments are as much a part of the show's
identity as the Vikings analysis itself. Notable recurring elements include Arif's
sumo coverage (a genuine passion that has earned its own segment), the annual
Christmas clip show, the mailbag, and a cast of recurring guests who have become
"friends of the show." The show is also known for its deeply committed bit economy
— once a joke enters the Norse Code universe, it tends to stay forever.
The Norse Code Friends & Enemies List recognizes recurring guests and contributors who have

Legacy
A Second Jet Has Hit Drew Bledsoe appeared in the mailbag from Episode 461 through Episode 603 — the second-to-last episode of the show's entire run. Their final question, submitted in Latin, framed Kevin O'Connell as Pontius Pilate and Carson Wentz as the risen Christ.
